UK TV Commercials 60s/70s produced by Henry Bentinck

I got these from the J. Walter Thompson archive in 1989 for my father's 70th birthday. He produced all these ads, thought of the Nimble balloon idea, and came up with the line, 'Mr Kipling bakes exceedingly good cakes'. Sorry for the plethora of Nimble ads, but the collection was more for his own interest than for public consumption. In sequence: Ribena - with a very young me! Campbell's Soup -...

Ribena Commercial 1962 with Tim Bentinck
amazing work as always!! i'm blown away by the fantastic range of your accents!!
You’ve been very busy this year Tim! ❤
Does anyone know what became of the commercial.where a little girl asked an older one Why do you wear a bra? It was on screens in the late Seventies.
1:03 how did they get the dog to work with the puppet? Very clevet
Many many takes!
The Nimble Ads and the music & song that went with them, has always stayed with me since my childhood, i still love them.
Wow, some hard-hitters in those Mother's Pride adverts, never seen them before.
i loved mothers pride bread😊
Nothing like it for beans on toast.
Nimble Gal(Emily Jones) looks like Rebecca Romain Stamos to me, very Pretty.❤️
Unfortunately, unlike 70s Nimble Sliced Bread, nowadays, I'm definitely NOT "Even Lighter!" 🤣
kept you brainwashed thoujh😂 trying
Me neither
SIGMARR
This is amazing my friend , my father produced the Ribena adverts in the early 80s, i myself graced a short run of adverts as a wee boy with blonde curls ! I have been trying to piece together proof sherts and story boards to work out when it was as he died quite a while ago, you have been very helpful, i get the feeling that our fathers may well have worked together,or in competition for advertising contracts ! gb
Oh amazing. What was your father's name?
@@timbentinck Arthur Hill , his other campaigns of note were Blanc Foussy during the late 80s, Bacardi,Moet Chandon, the corporate logo package for Victoria Wine, "you cannae hurry a murray!" (Murray Mints) And the corporate logo for the Glasgow underground, ie "The clockwork orange" moniker comes from the orange and white of it ! Quite a legacy really , i have had some "small world" things happen recently whereby a close friend of recent years turns out that his father was working the Glasgow school of art when my father attended ! Thanks for using youtube for something actually interesting !
Similar kinds of things to my Pa then. Ads were so much better in those days. I don’t know what modern copywriting thinks it’s doing!
I wonder if they'd used Leeming's am-dram societies it might have had a better chance of making it to the small screen. Nice to see F3s at Leeming again though. Happy times.
I was on duty Crash Crew that day and I'm the "Hero' leaping out of the crash tender as the F3 taxis to a halt.
The Nimble advert brings back lovely memories of the 1967-70 period when TV adverts were original and nice to hear. Hard to think such a iconic singer like Dusty Springfield would advertise bread, and mention a pre war job as a knocker up. Think the 60s were a marvellous time to grow up. Everything seemed to work, and stress at work unheard of, and money, what there was pay day, seemed to go further than post decimal in 1971.
remembe the flake girl on the lake, dont get flakes that big anymore
The Nimble song was 'I can't let Maggie go' by The Honeybus (from 1968)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it.
I have to admit, some of the adverts in the 70s were better than the TV programmes.
They really were!
@@timbentinck A guy down the road from me worked for Ogilvy and Mather. I don't know what his job was, but he's now in a care home.
Mrs Richardson was/is gorgeous.
The voice overs today are a mix of West Indies/London. Innt bro.
Those were the days. If only we could borrow Dr who's TARDIS and go back for a visit
I wouldn't bother coming back.
Oh this is VERY good!
Another world then !! Everyone happy to identify as either a man or woman
Wots with all the bread adverts ?
7:00 SIGMAR BLESS THIS SHOT jk
8:11 Joanna Lumbley ??
It's the first time I've seen that Nimble TV ad, (7.19) since the 1970's! Brings back lovely memories.
8:05 when she came back up I thought "Thank God! "
How good to hear English spoken so well.
Many years after the Restoration, Baron Thomas Lacey of Arnescote came back as an RAF pilot, continuing to serve as a faithful and loyal officer of the Crown. Heh, good stuff.
Was that Joanna Lumley diving into the river?
Yup. See description.
Love them. The Dusty Springfield one talking about "knocker uppers" really takes us back to a different time.
I can remember my father trying it out on us, children just after he’d written it. The memory is fresh!
If the past appears more appealing it means our future isn't. Great adds by the way
I was technical support on this movie at RAF Leeming, that's me 35 seconds into the clip, putting the aircraft locks into the front landing gear. I also was a stunt double for the female pilot (fiona Dolman?) As for insurance purpose she wasn't allowed to taxi the jet, so I did it. Thanks for sharing Tim 👍🏼
Hi Lee, such a shame it didn't go to series. Thanks for your contribution. My other regret is I never got to fly in a Tornado, although I did manage to land the simulator without crashing!
@@timbentinck did you know that this was to be a rival show to ITV's Soldier Soldier with Robson green, but it turned out that it was the BBC'S biggest budget TV movie ever made at that time and it cost that much to make the movie that a series was never financially viable. Hope your keeping well Tim 🙏🏻
@@leeboyApple Interesting. What I heard at the time was that it was a pilot for a series, but they didn't take it up. Not really surprising as the RAF had a say in the script and tried to turn it into a recruiting film, also it had so many back stories crammed in that it ended up as a mess. I also heard that the caterers had been booked in Cyprus!
@@timbentinck well where would you rather be? Cyprus or Leeming 🤣 It was a great experience for us doing it, as I was a wanna be actor but ended up an aircraft electrician 🤷♂️ I actually bumped into Mick Ford a couple of years later in portobello market in London and he recognised me and said hello, which made my wife confused as to how/why an actor knew me. Lol. Happy days and happy memories. My daughter is currently applying for drama school in London at the moment, but by God its a tough business.
@@leeboyApple It is tough, and getting tougher, especially with AI taking a lot of our work. Also horribly down to luck and being in the right place etc.
baby bentinck!
Blessed sigmar

All great weren't they, but not made by my Pa, so not here!
Your dad and his team were very clever
The Dead Dog segment blew me away, I could totally picture you in a Guy Ritchie-esque monologue scene! My vocal chords have been toasty thanks to my attempts at mimicking Saltzpyre's voice to keep my friends entertained haha, thank you for giving so much life to this character with your voice! you have an incredible range
Oh that’s so cool, thank you. Have a great Christmas!
I remember all of these
assuming this is a Clarkson parody, this is hilarious Tim
As a Vermintide fan this is putting into perspective for me how talented his vocal range is.
Looked like a brief appearance by Robin Askwith in the Berger Paints ad.
Thank you for posting and the interesting facts about your father's involvement with this world!
5:04 The power... of SIGMAR
Basil Brush with Shapes, far out.
Really love your work Tim! You're a true talent!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
They can still make a really nice looking classic Who Tardis console if they want to. Not a massive pile of ****.
Okay, that butter advert gets me every time. They should still run it: ruclips.net/video/QGVOQWHqTjk/видео.html
GW should make a Vermintide animated series
Commercial with Arthur Lowe followed by ad with Noel Dyson.... That just struck me as funny
Excellent UK TV commercials from the 1960's and 1970's decades!!
